About Us
Dr. Jean Claude Bystryn in Manhattan
There aren’t many doctors today with over 40 years of experience researching, teaching and practicing dermatology.
Dr. Bystryn is one of the distinguished few in his field. After graduating from the New York University School of Medicine in 1962, Dr. Bystryn completed his residency in dermatology and a research fellowship in immunology at his alma mater. He began teaching there in 1970 and eventually became a professor in 1984. Today, Dr. Bystryn’s commitment to the NYU School of Medicine is still going strong.
Dr. Bystryn’s board certifications include both the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Immunodermatopathology. He has been honored with many prestigious awards during his career, including the American Skin Association’s Vitiligo Research Award, the Irma T. Hirschl Career Scientist Award and the Husik Prize in Dermatology. He is also a member of more than a dozen professional societies and has published prolifically on a broad range of dermatological issues. Dr. Bystryn’s areas of specialty include melanoma, pemphigus, vitiligo, alopecia areata and blistering diseases.
